This couple got their near-naked bodies painted for a British television show called Battle of the Brides. And you thought the latest Pnina Tornai gowns were racy.

#2. The YSL Cocoon

The cocoon dress, designed by Yves Saint Laurent in 1965,  is one of the most famous bridal couture creations in history. Some say it symbolized the oppressive nature of marriage in the 1960s, while others believe that its phallic shape and the way that it wraps and ties the female figure in ribbons tell a story about women on the verge of the sexual revolution.

Check out this brightly hued wedding dress that made its debut at a bridal show in Japan. It’s made of over 2,000 peacock feathers, took over 8 months to make, and is valued at $1.5 million.
