Eco-Friendly Plastic Bottle Blossoms

A fabulous guest post from our dear friend Bird

These gorgeous cascading flower blossoms stem from the bottom of reclaimed plastic bottles which have been cut, sanded and tagged together.

The idea was created by Michelle Brand, a Manchester, England eco-designer tackling environmental issues with her work. Michelle finds beauty in everyday items – another reason to love her simple and sustainableĀ  transformations. She creates chandeliers, screens, curtains and room dividers – like this flowerfall.

On a smaller scale, this could be an exciting DIY decor project reusable as interior design after an event. Imagine all the color and size combinations from water and soda bottles! Here is an interpretation with LED lights.

Michelle’s stunning work is an example of slow design and a statement against disposable culture, both wonderful metaphors for marriage. Her pieces are made-to-order, for more info visit her official site.

Anthropologie has these all over their plants in the store. Most were painted orange or bright pink.
