Martha Martha Martha! The DIY Queen shows you how to make your own wedding cake
These sweet DIY wedding cakes and other creative confections are from Martha Stewart Weddings. Yes, you really can make these yourself (or pass the job on to a crafty bridesmaid or relative!) My favorites are the frozen sorbet bombe cakes below. They’re so elegant and pretty, and prefect for a hot summer wedding. Also pictured, a white chocolate panel cake with golden raspberries.
For a green wedding, I’d make these cakes with organic ingredients and fruit from our local farmer’s market. Below, a crushed candy cake that’s super easy and fun to make, and mini chocolate cakes.

How sweet, and they look fairly straight forward.
I made a 4 tier DIY wedding cake and all I can say is practice, practice, practice! I started six months in advance, testing recipes, learning the architecture of a tiered cake, and learning to smooth butter cream. Like I said, practice, practice, practice!
As an alternative to wedding cakes, you can also make DIY Petit Fours, or any other special treat in place of the wedding cake!

Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.
Very good suggestions, I’m going to bookmark this and come back to it. I’m curious if you have any follow ups to this post?
I love the mini cakes. Chocolate……..a girl’s best friend.
