Eco-friendly rustic details and handcrafted charm make a Florida wedding fabulous

Dayna and Ian’s super-special green wedding was the vision of the bride, who played the role of planner, coordinator, stylist, and designer. Every detail from the wooden centerpieces to the decorative potted plants were designed by Dayna and constructed by hand, with help from Ian and their family and friends. Dayna and Ian wanted their wedding to be environmentally friendly, supportive of local vendors and artisans, and an opportunity to enjoy the warmth and love of the people in their lives.

Dayna’s incredible necklace is from Etsy seller Quirky Beauty, and her dress is by Nicole Miller.  Don’t you just love the way the warm gold tones compliment Dayna’s hair and complexion? Stunning!

Dayna and Ian decided to forgo cut flowers for both economical and environmental reasons. Instead, they potted their own plants and flowers for decorations, then kept them in their home after the wedding.

I just love this unique venue — an old industrial train depot with a beautiful public park across the street!

Many of the decor items for the wedding were found via Etsy, Craigslist, and local thrift stores.

Eighty-five pounds of wood rounds were hand-cut by Dayna’s mom’s fiancé and shipped from Oregon. They were used for center piece bases on the guest tables and cake stands on the dessert table. Friends contributed by gathering canning jars, cutting fabric & ribbon, gluing buttons, stamping kraft paper, baking desserts, and making pom-pom flowers from string.

A local restaurant created a tasty buffet of Cuban food, which was served on biodegradable disposable plates and silverware. The disposable cups weren’t as green, but could be reused by guests throughout the celebration because they had scratch-off labels to be personalized.

The groom loves beer, so local brews were enjoyed by all! A four-tap kegorator served up two homebrews and two brews from Cigar City, a local Florida brewery.
