Last week’s Wedding Porn Wednesday by photographer Stone Crandall was so nice, we decided to feature him twice! Stone shot Chris and Susan’s super-charming wedding, held at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, with a reception at the YMCA of the Rockies, and boy did he ever capture some special moments. Susan and Chris put a fun personal twist on tons of standard wedding traditions.

For startes, instead of a typical bouquet and garter toss, they had a dance to see who of their guests had been married the longest. The DJ cued couples to begin stepping off the floor if they’d been married less than 5 years, less than 10 years, etc. Then the last couple standing won the bouquet and garter! They also had a University Fight Song throwdown for all of their loyal college sports fan friends. When the fight songs to the major Universities represented (CU, CSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas A&M, and Tulsa) were played, guests had to cheer as loud as they could. The school alums with the most spirit got an autographed football signed by Chris and Susan.

Fresh wildflowers tied with hay make a perfectly elegant rustic bouquet.

The cowboy boots aren’t just chic, they’re practical! Stiletto heels sinking into mud and grass are no fun for brides or their bridesmaids. Why not be cool and comfortable with boots like these that let you dance the night away?

Lovely hand-drawn wedding programs with a message to guests add a warm, personal touch to the church ceremony.

The stories of Susan’s bird theme and her veil are so beautiful! In her own words:

“I am wearing my mom’s veil. This was actually a last minute find. I didn’t even want to ear one, but my mom found hers buried in a box and it matched my dress PERFECTLY! God is in all the details. Also…I have a bit of a bird theme throughout the details of the ceremony and the reception. My grandma (mom’s mom) was killed in a car accident when I was young, but she always was pointing out birds to me. She had this saying with all my cousins that when you see a robin you have to do this little motion with your thumb for good luck. We all still do it and to this day, whenever I see a robin I have to stop what I am doing and do my thumb trick for good luck.”

Chris and Susan have a passion for great food, so they made their table theme about all of the great restaurants they’ve visited, and handed out a homemade book of recipes as wedding favors.

Instead of having a typical guestbook, the couple had everyone sign rocks (in the Rockies — get it!?) with messages to the bride and groom. Below, check out how Susan’s gorgeous convertible dress became a fun, short style when it came time to dance and show off her cowboy boots!

Jamie and Jason wanted a wedding that would be infused with elements of their creative lives and personalities, so they decided to skip many of the traditional wedding details in favor of fun, artistic elements. Their ceremony was mid-morning at the Walker Art Gallery in Denver, Colorado, followed by a brunch reception at the same venue. An artist did a live painting session while guests snacked from the delicious doughnut bar, and the couple passed out custom CDs with their favorite music as favors. These fantastic photos are by the talented Stone Crandall, whose blog is a must-see for in-the-know wedding addicts.

The couple created these mix CDs for guests to take home as favors, filled with their all-time favorite tunes.

The brunch feast included a doughnut bar, french toast, and yummy sandwiches.

The gallery was featuring a show of rock n’ roll-themed artwork, a perfect backdrop for Jamie and Jason’s celebration.

Artist Kamla Presswalla did a live painting in the gallery during the reception. Thanks so much to Stone Crandall for sharing these pics, and congrats to Jamie on Jason on their marriage!

When the wedding video is elevated to art like this, it makes me terribly happy.

As the product of a multi-ethnic marriage, nothing warms my heart more than seeing a beautiful wedding that seamlessly blends and honors different cultural traditions — especially when it’s done in super-elegant style! For Adam and Kim of New York City, their dream wedding meant inviting 100 friends and family members to spend 3 days aboard the Seadream yacht, for a celebration that included a traditional tea ceremony, a ketubah (Jewish marriage contract) and a chuppah (Jewish wedding canopy), fireworks (!), lots of groovy tunes, great food, and FUN!

Embarkation was followed by a casual, fun rehearsal dinner.

The busy wedding weekend itinerary still left plenty of time for r&r…and champagne!

Cornflower blue and fuschia are bright and cheery against the ocean backdrop and elegant white of the Seadream.

Oh-so-elegant reception table centerpieces use an assortment of glass vases to showcase single-variety bouquets. The cornflower blue and fuschia color scheme works as well indoors as out.

A few weeks ago, the incredible wedding photographer Laura Grier and I were catching up over sushi and sake, and she told me all about today’s gorgeous wedding. Laura wasn’t just the photographer at this even, she was also doing double duty a bridesmaid — all while wearing a blue corset and tutu! Sound interesting? It gets better…

Cher, who happens to be a doctor of emergency medicine (only in Beverly Hills could an ER doc be such a total babe!), married her adorable marketing exec groom Ian, at the Shady Oaks Winery in Napa Valley, CA. The entire bridal party spent the weekend at the winery’s main estate, enjoying croquet tournaments, wine and cheese tastings, pool parties and more. The wedding was filled with amazing personalized and creative details, from Cher’s layered blue petticoats to plantable wildflower seed-infused paper programs to centerpieces made of books, apples and flowers. Yes, Cher is an actual ER doctor. I consider it a feat if I manage to get out the door wearing matching socks. Meanwhile, Cher is off saving lives while looking like this. Pretty darned impressive, no?

Sean attracts lots of clients who’ve planned laid-back wedding masterpieces, full of effortless beauty and whimsical touches. And he captures it all with an eye for the small, magical moments and details that truly make a wedding special. You won’t find any 12-tiered cakes or cathedral trains at these affairs — just real people celebrating unforgettable moments with impeccable, casual style.

…here it is! That’s Danny, picking out his bride’s bouquet at their local farmer’s market. Have you ever seen a thing so sweet?

Stephanie’s exquisite dress looks vintage, though I can’t be sure. Check out the ankle-grazing length — so sweet and unique!

So just between us, I think that I want to marry Stephanie. She has the most amazing features, and such an incredible sense of style. Also, she proves that you don’t need a tan to look healthy and beautiful. Porcelain skin + white satin dress + crimson lips = exquisite, delicate perfection.

Usually, for WPW, I edit, resize, and rearrange photos into a composition that I think will work here. But Sean Flanigan is such a brilliant artist, I couldn’t even mess with the layouts on his blog. If you’ve ever studied art history, you’ll recognize echoes of diptychs and triptychs by the Old Masters, and notice painterly touches in the photos themselves. The portraits below are modern riffs on Renaissance masterpieces.

Who says a wedding cake has to be huge and ornate? A newly wedding-banded Danny cuts the chocolate-frosted cake.

The next couple in our Sean Flanigan feature are Eliza and Steve, and this wedding was featured earlier on Junebug. When she’s not busy being a gorgeous bride, Eliza is a wedding photographer — so she knows a thing or two about planning a rockin’ celebration. Cue the giant confetti, pinatas, and ping pong. Yes, ping pong!

This appears to be Eliza’s dad, and nothing was stopping him from getting to the party!

Oh, the faces! Did I mention that Sean Flanigan’s portraits are so genius I can hardly stand it?

A blue and purple palette = effortless casual elegance.

Sheet cake! Chocolates! Family fun! The reception was like a very pretty summer camp. These warm, unfussy details let the warmth and spirit of the day take center stage.

A friend of the couple’s served as their officiant, further personalizing the ceremony, which was held in a loft/photo studio and followed by a reception in the same space.

A casual wedding isn’t just hip, it can save tons of resources and therefore be a lot greener than a formal affair. Everything from the invitations to the attire can be more minimalist and reusable for a relaxed wedding like these.

According to uber-talented photographer Laura Grier of Beautiful Day Photography, Dana and Michael were one of the most relaxed and happy couples she’s ever worked with. And their sunny, laid-back attitude is reflected in every pretty detail of their green wedding at Ponte Winery in Temecula, California. This adorable duo worked in everything from eco-friendly florals to cool, non-matchy-matchy bridal party attire. The overall look is colorful, comfortable, and infused with the kind of joy and warmth that makes a wedding truly memorable.

The color! The texture!! We don’t know who made Dana’s incredible wedding dress, but based on the lace and beadwork, I’m guessing that it’s vintage or antique. If anybody can provide a clue, please share in the comments below!

The boys look like they’re having a blast getting ready. (It’s easy to drink beer and go swimming when there’s no hair and makeup to contend with!)

Beautiful bride!! Dana’s smile is infectious. It makes me smile right back at her.

Oh, the simple beauty of getting married at a vineyard! With luscious violet grapes and greenery like this, the ceremony site needs no extra embellishment. Elegant wooden chairs, a simple chuppah, and breathtaking scenery are sweet perfection. Also, you can bet that the wine was good…and plentiful.

Boutonnieres are made of sustainable succulent plants, along with potted succulents with limes and a stunning bridesmaid’s bouquet of fuschia tulips. This green wedding uses a variety of blooms, and is a great example of how you can reduce your impact and incorporate whatever your “dream flowers” are by mixing them with more Earth-friendly options.

Mix n’ match bridesmaids dresses in vibrant, rich colors are complemented by an array of monochrome bouquets. Below, buckets of parasols shield guests from the summer sun.

Leslie and Sim are such a gorgeous couple, it would be fun to look at photos of them hanging out in their sweats. Instead, we get the privilege of seeing them in a stunning variety of costumes against some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. It was all captured by renowned international wedding photographer Laura Grier of Beautiful Day Photography. Laura expertly photographed every detail, including the gorgeous flowers, the Balinese landscape, and…a surprise celebrity engagement!  That’s right — a famous couple got engaged at Leslie and Sim’s reception, inspiring their secret BWalinese elopement the very next day. And I might just tell you who they are at the very end of this post….

Leslie’s wedding dress was a custom design by Lazaro. Two wedding invitations were sent to each guest — one for the California wedding, and another for the ceremony and celebration in Bali.

Look how sweet Leslie is, wiping away tears as she puts on the 60-year-old Chantilly lace veil that her great-grandmother made for her grandmother’s wedding. Leslie’s own mother also wore the veil at her wedding. What a beautiful family tradition — and a gorgeous veil!

The bridesmaids wore navy blue Melissa Sweet dresses and brightly colored accessories to complement their lush bouquets.

Helloooo, exceptionally gorgeous bride! Lazaro should have paid Leslie to wear their dress. These pics look like they’re straight out of a bridal fashion mag.

That Chantilly lace is 60 years old! I’m swooning over the veil, and yet I’m also deeply concerned about someone stepping on it.

The church ceremony was followed by a reception at the beautiful Santa Luz Country Club.

Sitar players entertained guests at the cocktail hour while the reception tent was being prepared.

Continuing the theme of using heirloom pieces, Leslie and Sim cut their wedding cake with a 200-year-old cake-cutting set that was passed down through Leslie’s family.

Vargas girls, you’re getting a run for your money. Because Tiphany has mastered the art of sexy pinup glamour, and she showed off some seriously hip retro style when she married her very own Daddy-O Jamie at the Four Seasons Biltmore in California wine country last September.

This couple’s style is the eptiome of ’50s cool. They’re kind of like a modern-day Rizzo and Kenicke from Grease.

Every detail of this remarkable wedding was captured by the incredible husband-and-wife photography team Matt and Angie Sloan of Sloan Photographers. They’re based in Arizona but available to shoot  just about anywhere.

Tiphany paired her sweet n’ sexy tea-length Melissa Sweet wedding dress with one of the prettiest headpieces I’ve ever seen, and these fabulous ’50s-style yellow pumps. Except when she was rocking her Chuck Taylors and playing cricket. (Why? Because she can.)

Blackberry jam favors encourage guests to “spread the love”. Sweet!

Tiphany wore her mom’s heirloom pearls. Classic!

Candy buttons! Choward’s! Yes, you’ve died and gone to heaven! And heaven is kickin’ it old-school.

The bridesmaids dresses were customized to match the blue and yellow palette. Check out the blue crinolines under their skirts. Sewing in matching crinolines is a great way to coordinate bridesmaids’ looks and add a sweet detail to their dresses.

Pinup girls were a recurring theme…and Tiphany looked just like one come to life! Her red lips, porcelain skin, and modern bouffant ‘do are so perfectly pulled together. I love when a bride knows who she is and expresses her personal style so eloquently.

Helloooooooo, eyelashes! Tiphany’s makeup just rocks my world.
